VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There are many ways to get involved with PRISM on an ongoing, time-limited, or one-time basis.  Find out how you can help, small or large, to provide hope to these PRISM serves.

PRISM is in need of volunteers in the following areas and shifts.  Click on the opportunity to see more information:

 

Food Shelf

Mondays: 1pm-5pm, 4pm-8pm

Tuesdays: 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm

Wednesdays: 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm

Thursdays: 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm, 4pm-8pm

Fridays: 9:30am-1:30pm

Clothes Closet

Mondays: 1pm-5pm

Tuesdays: 1pm-5pm

Wednesday s: 9am-1pm, 1pm-5pm

Ongoing Opportunities-- Operations Need

Food Shelf

Assisting clients with shopping, sorting & organizing food

  • 4- to 5-hour shifts once per week or every other week, additional substitute shifts as needed if you'd like
  • A commitment to PRISM's mission and a warm, welcoming attitude with ability to work as part of a team
  • Some moderate to heavy lifting
  • Basic math skills (weights and measures)

Clothes Closet

Assisting clients with shopping, sorting & organizing clothing and household items

  • A commitment to PRISM's mission and a friendly smile
  • Requires standing, bending and minimal lifting
  • Willingness/Ability to learn/use cash register

Reception/Office

Reception (answering phones, greeting/checking in clients/volunteers), phone calling/reminder calls, clerical (filing, copying, other tasks as needed)

  • A commitment to PRISM's mission and a warm, welcoming attitude with good phone manner
  • Ability to handle multiple phone lines
  • Computer data entry skills
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skill

Auto Shop

Mechanic -- assessing and repairing vehicles, runner--assisting in shop, picking up parts, other tasks as assigned

Assistant -- work with the mechanics in the shop.  This might mean moving cars, taking them to the carwash, taking photos for the website, mopping or other cleaning, data entry, and miscellaneous tasks.  The shop will be open for our new hours as well.  Times are flexible with this opportunity .

Executive Board: governance & policy making

Church Partner Board: church liaison for events, drives

Friends of PRISM: event planning

Computer Support: hardware, software, programming

Data Management: Data entry and/or analysis. Time slot in most need is Mondays, 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm (flexible)

Historian/Archivist: sorting/scrap-booking photos

Building Care: custodial & "fix-it" person

Speaker/Presenter: speaking publicly about PRISM

Time-Limited Opportunities

 Event-Planning and Coordination: Fund-raising breakfasts (Spring and Fall)

Event-Planning and Coordination: PRISM Golf Outing & Silent Auction (Sept)

Event-Planning and Coordination: Sleep-Out for Homelessness Awareness (November)

One-Time, Short-Term or As Needed Opportunities

  • Mailing Crews
  • PRISM Holiday Shoppe setup and/or distribution (December)
  • Clean-up Days
  • Phone calling projects
  • Delivery/Pickup resources to/from PRISM
  • Photographer
  • Entertainer/Musician (event-specific)
  • Audio-Visual Editor (creating videos, PR materials, presentations)
  • Childcare (during meetings/classes)

PRISM Possibilities Team

This group is our new approach to the organization's development.  We are a team of volunteers sharing personal and professional talents in an effort to get PRISM's word out.

What experience can you provide? Many opportunities are available, including:
