We are excited to provide a convenient way for you to help us provide hope to those we serve through an online contribution. Did you know that
although many types of gifts benefit PRISM, the gift of money is the most beneficial. Through a relationship with Second Harvest Heartland, PRISM is able to use $1 to purchase $5 worth of groceries! Click on the "Donate Now" button within this article to make your first online contribution!

PRISM Express is e-x-p-a-n-d-i-n-g in May!
PRISM is in the process of filling the ever-growing need for transportation. Allianz Life has provided generous support to allow the purchase of a 29-passenger bus. The bus is beautiful with comfortable reclining cloth seats, air conditioning, and a smooth ride. The signage for this bus as well as all the other PRISM Express vehicles is designed, created, and donated by the Spangler Design Team. The new bus will roll out with its first passengers around May 18, 2009. PRISM will utilize the bus for events and rent it out for charter trips, adding a revenue stream to help sustain this and other services provided. Stay tuned for more details...

Allianz Life Insurance Company “Spirit of Giving Campaign 2008” During the Holiday season, Allianz Life Insurance Company engaged in their annual Spirit of Giving Campaign. This is a campaign that encourages employees of Allianz Life to pull together to raise money and gather food and clothing donations to be given to a local social service agency. Again this year, PRISM was fortunate and grateful to be chosen as that agency.
On December 10th, hundreds of Allianz employees assembled into their famous human chain and loaded the donations of more than 25,000 pounds of food and more than 13,000 pounds of clothing into a semi-trailer and multiple employee vehicles. Then they recreated that human chain at PRISM and unloaded all of the donations right into the PRISM warehouse. Liz Johnson, Director of PRISM was on-hand to witness this extraordinary and overwhelming event. Allianz exceeded their goal this past year once again despite the current economic climate. This truly shows the Spirit of Giving! See pictures from the event by clicking here.
We would like to thank Allianz Life for their ongoing support of PRISM. Their kindness and generosity makes a significant difference in the community we call home.
PRISM Express Changes Effective November 10th - All Aboard!
A well-loved service of PRISM in the local
community, PRISM Express will continue to
offer reliable, friendly curb-to-curb ride service
well into the future. As the program grows to
accommodate more riders than ever, PRISM
Express will need to institute some changes to
the way the service works.
PRISM is moving to a ‘fare ticket’ system in
place of the ‘suggested donation’ we have
requested in the past. In order to ride, riders
must purchase either a $5.00 round trip
fare ticket or a $2.50 one-way fare ticket.
PRISM Express held off as long as they
could, hoping that free-will donations would
increase to cover the rising costs of running
this wonderful service. But with the sharp
increase in ridership, instability of gas prices,
and other factors, moving to a ‘fare ticket’
system became necessary.
As PRISM Express evolves into a more
efficient transportation program, providing
more rides each day while controlling
operating costs, we will also institute a
new ‘pick-up window’ procedure. In the
past, PRISM Express provided a 10-minute
pick-up window and the ride schedule
was created based on reservations. While
we know our riders have appreciated this
customer-friendly system, we have also had
to acknowledge that this system increased
fuel and salary costs. In order to meet rider
needs and save costs, PRISM Express is
moving to a dispatcher system.
What this means for the rider is that you will
be given a one-hour pick-up window during
which you must be ready to ride. During that
hour, you will receive a phone call from the
dispatcher letting you know that a driver is
8-10 minutes away from your home. At that
time, you should proceed to the pick-up
location so that you are ready when the
driver arrives.
PRISM Express looks forward to serving
your transportation needs for years to come
and we deeply appreciate your patience as
we transition to this new, more efficient and
flexible process.

Minnesota Timberwolves & Lynx at PRISM
On March 31, 2008 our local basketball organizations did their part to contribute to MN Foodshare’s March Match month for area food shelves. At the Target Center from March 26-28, five different departments within the Timberwolves and Lynx organizations competed in a food drive from which all items were donated to Minnesota FoodShare, which in turn allocated the food to PRISM. They collected 1,615 pounds of food which were hand-delivered to PRISM by Timberwolves center Chris Richard and Lynx guard Noelle Quinn! It was a very exciting day for PRISM! Our first television ad, on WCCO
This past Thanksgiving week, PRISM’s first television commercial aired on WCCO TV. The 30-second spot was designed by the creative minds at Spangler Design Team in Hopkins, MN along with PRISM staff members Kelly Tomek and Elizabeth Johnson. A special thanks to Spangler Design Team for their creativity and graphic design, Excel Media Corporation for production, and WCCO TV for this amazing opportunity.
